A Garden History and Design workshop, organized by Zones II and III, was held on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at The Mount in Lenox, MA and Naumkeag in Stockbridge, MA.



HIGHLIGHTS of the workshop included:

Interactive Workshop

10:00 AM - 10:45 AM                  

Arete Warren, 2004-2006 National Chairman of the Garden History & Design Committee, spoke about club committees, garden submissions and  photography.

Lecture         

10:45 AM - 11:45 AM      

Gordon Clarke, landscape designer, who oversaw the restoration of The Mount and Superintendent of the Trustees of Reservations in the southern Berkshires was the guest lecturer. He discussed The Mount gardens designed by Edith Wharton and compared the European influences on The Mount and Naumkeag where Mabel Choate collaborated with landscape designer, Fletcher Steele.
