Dear Conservation
Chairs & Club Presidents:
I’m looking
forward to seeing you at our Zone III Conservation Meeting on
Monday, November 14th, 9:30-1:00 at GCA headquarters (14 East
60th Street, New York, NY 10022; 212-753-8287). As many of
you know, this is a unique opportunity for the New York
Conservation Chairs and Club Presidents to meet as a group,
learn about what each club is doing and strategize on how we can
have a true impact on our environment.
To help us develop
a challenging, yet rewarding agenda for the next two years, I’ve
asked Robert Moore, Executive Director of Environmental
Advocates (EA), to be our key note speaker. He will give us an
overview of the environmental issues facing our state, including
the five EA Super Bills that the environmentalists have rallied
around (sprawl, wetlands and flood protection, global warming,
recycling and litter prevention, and toxic burn barrels). He
will also update us on how our NYS legislators are doing.
Attached is a list of EA’s 2005 environmental priorities.
In addition to Bob
speaking, I have asked each Conservation Chair to give a brief
description of her club (size, location & environmental focus).
And if there are any important issues you’d like to have
discussed please let me know.
To finish off our
meeting there will be a special luncheon created by the GCA
Hospitality Committee. We’re asking for $25 per person to cover
the cost. Checks should be made out to Patsy Randolph and sent
to me at: 80 Shutter Lane, Oyster Bay, NY 11771. Thank you.
Look forward to
hearing from you.
Patsy
