ZONE III AWARD RECIPIENTS 2004-2005

 


NATIONAL AWARDS
.

National Awards are presented at the Garden Club of America Annual Meeting Awards Dinner.
 


ZONE AWARDS
.

Zone Awards include the Zone Creative Leadership Award, the Zone Civic Improvement Award, the Zone Conservation Award, the Zone Historic Preservation Award, the Barbara Spalding Cramer Zone Flower Arrangement Education Award, and the Zone Flower Arrangement Achievement Award. One award a year, if merited, may be presented in each category in a zone. Zone Awards are presented at the Zone Meeting Awards Dinner.

 

ZONE CREATIVE LEADERSHIP AWARD
.

The Zone Creative Leadership Award is awarded to members for outstanding and unusual talent in the field of leadership, exemplifying continued judgment and initiative over a period of time. Creative leadership may be defined as executive or organizational ability put to use in any area of GCA activity throughout and/or beyond the zone.

ZONE CIVIC IMPROVEMENT AWARD
.

Awarded to a member or member club for outstanding actions of civic improvement within the zone which enhance, protect, or restore the local environment or improve the community through sharing the knowledge of plants and/or gardening.

ZONE CONSERVATION AWARD
.

The Zone Conservation Award is awarded to a member or member club for outstanding service in conservation within the zone.

ZONE HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD
.

The Zone Historic Preservation Award is given to a club, individual member, or a group of members, for outstanding achievement in the preservation and/or restoration of a house, public building, garden, site or district of historic value within the environs of the zone.

ZONE HORTICULTURE AWARD
.

The Zone Horticulture Award is presented to a member for outstanding horticultural achievement beyond the activities of her own club.



BARBARA SPAULDING CRAMER ZONE FLOWER ARRANGEMENT EDUCATION AWARD
.

The Cramer Award may be presented annually to one member in each zone in recognition of outstanding achievement in flower arrangement and flower arrangement education throughout and beyond her zone.



ZONE FLOWER ARRANGEMENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
.

The Zone Flower Arrangement Achievement Award may be presented annually to one member in each zone in recognition of outstanding achievement in flower arrangement beyond the activities of her own club.



ZONE CONSERVATION CERTIFICATE OF ACKNOWLEDGMENT TO NON-MEMBERS
.

This certificate is awarded to a citizen or group of citizens who are not members of a GCA club and who have made a significant contribution to conservation within the zone.

.

This award is named after Elizabeth Platt Corning and is awarded to Zone III GCA Clubs or Members as well as organizations and individuals for special achievement in the field of Horticulture Arts which may include Literature, the Fine Arts or Education.

.

GCA club awards are given to GCA club members by their clubs. A club may present one award a year in each category. A recipient may receive the award only once.

.

The Medal of Merit was designed in 1921 by Mrs. Charles H. Stout, Short Hills Garden Club, and is presented by The Garden Club of America. Awarded by a member club (voted by its executive committee) to one of its own members, upon application to and with approval of the national Awards Committee Chairman, for contributions of exceptional merit in the field of horticulture, conservation or civic achievement, or dedication and inspirational leadership within the area of a member’s respective club.
